LONDON IRISH WIN TOP AWARD
London Irish received the prestigious "Club of the Year" award at the Premier
Rugby marketing awards at Twickenham last Friday night.
Professional rugby union's top award is presented annually to the club that in the opinion of the judges outperforms all other Zurich Premiership clubs on a range of marketing criteria. The other short-listed clubs were Leicester Tigers and Northampton Saints.
Earlier in the ceremony London Irish had received runners-up certificates in the "Best Matchday Experience" and "Best Club Sponsor" (Guinness) categories.
"We have been working hard both on and off the field all season to lay the foundations from which this club can move forward to achieve success in the Zurich Premiership and Europe," said Conor O'Shea, "we are delighted that our marketing efforts have received this recognition. I would like to congratulate Pat Coyne and the commercial team on their contribution to the club's receipt of this important award."

DIGGER DOWN UNDER
As the rest of the UK enjoys a week off from school during half term, Digger is preparing for a much longer trip! Digger is taking part in a London to Sydney rally with Nirvana Spa, starting this Friday, 4 June.
Digger will be joining two staff members from Nirvana Spa as they take part in a mammoth 15,000 mile overland expedition to Sydney, Australia in a Nissan Pathfinder. Crossing six countries in one month, the rally is in aid of the Sir Steve Redgrave Charitable Trust, funding charitable work in developing countries.
To support Digger's trip London Irish is launching a 'Far Flung Fans' section on the website Digger will start the section off by emailing back piccies of himself at different landmarks along his Littlest Hobo journey.
But we want all our fans to add to our Far Flung Fans section. The holiday season is rapidly approaching and we want to see London Irish shirts taking over the world! Wherever you're going on holiday, take a photo of yourself in your London Irish branded gear, or of your toy Digger, on holiday. Even if you're only going to Brighton, we want pictures of you at the pier!
Digger woofs; "I normally just go to Ireland for my summer holiday so being taken to Australia is a wolfhound size bonus! I'm hoping to catch up with some of the Indian and Australian wildlife and meet a few of my old Irish cousins. I've been resting in my kennel so I don't get too dog tired during the trip! I hope lots of other Irish fans follow my lead and send back their holiday pics to go on the website."
Photos should be emailed to digger@london-irish.com and will be added to the website during the summer months.

APPLEFORD IN IRB SEVENS AT TWICKENHAM
Geoff Appleford retains his place in England's Sevens team for the final round of the IRB World Series at Twickenham on Saturday and Sunday (5th and 6th June).
Having lost to New Zealand in the final of the Bordeaux round of the Sevens last weekend, England now trails the All Blacks in the IRB Sevens table by ten points.
"We have it all to do next weekend," said Geoff speaking exclusively to the London Irish website from the squad's training camp today. "In fact, we need some help from other teams if we are to have any chance of catching the Kiwis."
Geoff, who played in all of England's games on Sunday, is looking forward to playing at home next weekend. "All the guys enjoy playing at Twickenham, especially in front of a large and noisy home crowd. We are determined to give of our best."
The Emirates Airline London Sevens will be played at Twickenham this Saturday and Sunday (5th and 6th June). Tickets are available through Ticketmaster on 0870 9020000.

NO REST FOR GARY!
Having travelled home to South Africa for the off-season, Gary Gold has found that he can't escape the demands of rugby.
The London Irish head coach has been invited by Jake White, head coach of the Springboks, to join his coaching team for a couple of days. Gary will provide "technical analysis" support as the squad prepares in Bloemfontein for the visit of Ireland.
