TEAM NEWS

There is one change to the starting line-up of the team that played Sale Sharks last Friday.  Phil Murphy starts at No.8 in place of Chris Sheasby who suffered a serious eye injury during Friday's match.  It is unlikely that Chris will play for at least three months.  Nick Greenstock continues to recover from his shoulder injury and is expected to be available for selection next week.  Mark Mapletoft is unavailable because of his ankle injury.

Looking forward to the weekend, Head Coach, Gary Gold said, "Our visit to Sale Sharks was as demanding as expected.  While we were pleased to come away with the win, we were devastated by the injury to Chris Sheasby."

"Saracens pose another tough challenge on Sunday.  They are a team brimful of talented players who have only hit form on occasion thus far.  When they do so consistently their opponents will suffer, I hope we are not the ones to feel the effects on Sunday."

INJURY UPDATE

Chris Sheasby was seriously injured in an incident at a scrum in the final seconds of the first half of the match with Sale Sharks on Friday night.

He was immediately taken to hospital in Manchester for examination and treatment.

Chris sustained a fracture to his right eye socket and underwent surgery to repair a rupture of his eye. This included removal of part of the iris. The long term prognosis of vision is yet to be determined but at present his vision is significantly impaired.

Chris will be unable to play for at least three months. All at London Irish and Chris's many friends and fans of rugby union send their best wishes to him for a speedy recovery.
