SCOTLAND INTERNATIONAL STRENGTHENS SQUAD
London Irish announced today (26th October) that Roland Reid, who has two caps for Scotland, will join the Exiles on 1st November.
Reid (25), a back row forward who can play at blindside flanker or at No 8, is recognised as a good ball carrier with exceptional speed so much so that he has been used on the wing by Scotland. He grew up in South Africa where he played representative rugby at schools, Under 19 and Under 21 levels. In 2000, because of his Scottish parentage, he moved to Scotland where he joined the Glasgow Rugby squad and went on to play for the country's Sevens, A and national team.
He returned to South Africa in July of this year to rejoin the Golden Lions where he made an outstanding contribution to their recent Currie Cup campaign.
Confirming his move to London Irish, Roland Reid said: "I am pleased and excited to be joining London Irish and look forward to playing in the Zurich Premiership. I hope to perform well for the club and be an asset to an already great squad. Hopefully it will provide a platform from which I can regain a place in the Scotland squad."
Commenting on Reid's signing London Irish's Managing Director, Conor O'Shea said: "Given our current injury situation in the back row with Kieron Dawson and Peter Poulos out long term, the availability of such a talented player was fortunate and we are pleased to have signed him. We look forward to Roland joining us and making his debut next month."

Halloween end to Half Term at London Irish!
